Mold Prevention Maintenance for the Home

Protect your investment

The largest single investment you will make during your lifetime can be the purchase of your home(s). It is important to protect and appreciate that investment through proper care and maintenance. We invest heavily in the more temporary necessities of our lives such as our clothing and our cars and even our own personal appearance. Why not protect our home investment with the same commitment? Care and maintenance of the structure and grounds of your home are the major elements required to protect your home investment. A preventive maintenance program is far more effective and economical than a "crisis management" approach.

Under routine circumstances, most homeowners are capable of conducting the regular inspections which are the foundation of a preventive maintenance program. Many are also capable of performing some or all of the corrective measures required. Most often a comprehensive home preventative maintenance program becomes a joint effort between the owner and one or more commercial service providers. Camden Products has initiated CamproServe, a scheduled preventive maintenance service to homeowners provided by service contractors who have become Certified Applicators of our products.

Water and/or excessive moisture are primary culprits in the depreciation of the structural and aesthetic values of your home. In most cases water and moisture can result in staining, the growth of mold, mildew and algae or in extreme cases rot and structural damage. Camden Products, LLC recommends that a substantial portion of your preventive maintenance program be devoted to the identification of potential problems which can lead to damage caused by water and moisture and the measures necessary to correct the problems before damage occurs.

In developing CAMPRO's preventive maintenance programs, Camden Product, LLC has drawn heavily from The Ten Point Protection Plan developed by Free from Mold.org launched by APA- The Engineered Wood Association. (www.apawood.org). Following the plan developed by The FreeFromMold.org, Camden Products has identified three Groups or areas of concern: Grounds, Exterior and Interior. Each of the three Groups is composed of key structural or other items of concern specific to the Group. The program is focused on keeping the structure clean and in preventing aesthetic and structural depreciation due to problems caused by water and excessive moisture. These problems include mold, mildew, algae, rust, staining, rot and decay.
